SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Our weather is warming up and the garden is waking up. I'm not clever with names of plants, I just enjoy growing tough ones. Ones that can tolerate me leaving them to look after themselves when we go away.
Here are some grevillea :

Some Banksia :

Some Camellias:

  1. I've seen wildflowers like I've never seen before over here in Western Australia!! They almost make up for the spring storms ...

    Have a great weekend!

  5. We used to grow camellias (when we had our house in Oregon)....yours are beautiful. The other flower is totally new to me and it's lovely. I like your "tough plants" (at first I thought you meant exotic plants that were hard to grow -- I like your kind of tough better!)

    Happy Spring!

  6. It matters not a jot about names! Such a wonderful display Diane. I especially love the Grevilleas, their delicate tendrils - it always amazes me just how tough they are :D)

  7. Diane, you have certainly got great
Camellias! Sometimes not the easiest to grow.
My pots of them, and they were my pride and joy, that I had downstairs mysteriously disappeared about 2005! The thieves obviously had a trailler attached to their vehicle and there must have been at least two strong people to get them away.
That was the end of my camellia growing and I still fume about it.
Coming home from work and to see a big empty space was not the best for my temper!
    Cheers
    Colin

  8. What a great selection of grevillias. Some of our camelliias have any more flowers than usual this year.

  14. You sound like me Diane - the tougher the plant the better. I like the color they provide but without the work. :)
    Lovely shots!

To think you are heading into summer and we're heading into fall and winter. Really brings home how far away you are.

  17. Diane, yes they all are tough and beautiful, even the camellias are quite undemanding. I have tried some native plants from Western A. but it is to humid and wet clay soil in my garden, hopeless. Your native plants look really healthy and lovely colours, also like the camellias.
